Forklift Training- Reach Truck, Counter Balance, Pallet Truck
The aim of the course is to ensure that operators become competent in the safe use of Forklifts by gaining the required knowledge and skills

The forklift training covers safe driving of a forklift truck, pre-use maintenance and safety checks, recognition of controls and instruments. The forklift is driven around a suitable course with the operator moving and stacking various loads.
Types of courses:
Forklift Training for beginners 3-5 days
Forklift Training for experienced operators 2-3 day
Forklift Training refresher 1 day
Course Content
- Legislation & Code of Practice
- Safety responsibilities of an operator
- Pre-shift inspection forklift stability
- Battery care / refuelling for battery /diesel, gas powered lift trucks
- Safe operation of a forklift truck:
- Load handling racking systems
- Irregular loads
- Vehicle loading
- Weight assessment.

Fully compliant Training Certificate valid 3 years (subject to passing course assessment) and receipt issued after training course.
On completion of the Forklift course participants will be able to:
- Understand the different types of forklift
- Understand the hazards of forklift use
- Demonstrate appropriate pre-use checks on a forklift and complete a checklist
- Maneuverer a forklift safely – raising, lowering loads and traversing appropriately.
Types of courses:

- Forklift Training for beginners – 5 Days course
This course is designed for beginners, who receive certificate at the end of the course, provided they achieve the required standard in the theoretical and practical tests.
Who Should Attend?
New drivers or drivers with little experience and no certification
- Forklift Training for Experienced Trainees – 2- or 3-Days course
Operating a forklift truck is a specialised skill. Many accidents are caused by untrained drivers operating trucks in ignorance of the special conditions that apply to forklifts.
This two - day (Counterbalance or Reach Truck) or three-day (Reach Truck and Counterbalance) course is designed for experienced operators who do not hold a certificate.
Who Should Attend?
Experienced operators who are familiar with the steering characteristics of the lift truck and have the ability to manoeuvre both forward and reverse in a confined area. They should be experienced in load handling functions.
- Forklift Training Refresher – 1 day
From 1 Day course (Counterbalance or Reach Truck)
This course is designed to keep participant up to date with any changes in forklift operations, Health & Safety Authority guidance on forklift trucks states that operators should undergo refresher training to keep them from developing bad habits and practices. It involves theory and practical with various types of loads.
Who Should Attend?
Currently Certified Drivers who have had adequate basic training should attend this course. They should have previously been certified but now require their skills to be updated, perhaps due to long intervals of time between operating lift trucks, or if changes in work practices/vehicles have occurred, or there is evidence of deterioration in the operator’s performance.
