Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP)
Self-Propelled Boom 3B, Mobile Vertical 3A.This one day course provides safety training and assessment to ensure candidates can safely operate MEWPs in line with regulations. This course includes both boom and scissor lift.Operators must learn the safety precautions required and the various safe use of the MEWP itself.
MEWP’s are widely used in the workplace and are replacing ladders and tower scaffolds as the preferred method of access. This training is designed to provide participants with all necessary skills and knowledge required for safe working and operation of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms.

- Legislation and the use of MEWP’s
- Basic types and specification of MEWP’s
- Daily inspections of machine
- Functions of controls
- Safe use of machine around site
- Certification and testing of machine & attachments
- Terrain and associated hazards
- Loading dumpers/trailers
- Transport of machine to and from site
- Practical Test
- Theory Test
Who Should Attend
This MEWP training operator course is suitable for anyone who operates scissor lifts, mobile vertical lifts, telescopic booms, articulating booms or mobile booms.
Course Objectives
On completion of this course participants will be able to
- Operate an MEWP safely and correctly in accordance with the Manufacturer’s handbook
- Clearly understand the causes of instability while operating an MEWP
- Be able to carry out correctly, a pre-use inspection of the MEWP
- Work safely at height
- Understand fully the procedures for the emergency lowering of the MEWP in the event of an emergency
Requirements
PPE incl harness
Fully compliant Training Certificate valid 3 years (subject to passing course assessment) and receipt issued after training course.
All our instructors are QQI Level 6 certified.
