About this course
Nearly two-thirds of people say that they have experienced a mental health problem. The HSE reports that mental ill-health (specifically stress, depression or anxiety) is now accountable for over 50% of all working days lost and 51% of work-related ill health in 2019/20.
One of the biggest challenges with poor mental health is removing the stigma that surrounds it. Many don’t hesitate to seek help for physical pain or problems, yet so many of us ignore emotional and mental health issues – or we feel too embarrassed, confused or scared to talk about them. This Mental Health Awareness Training discusses mental health the way you would a headache or the flu, and it encourages you to take care of yourself as you would a loved one.
Why choose Mental Health Awareness training?
Our Mental Health Awareness course raises awareness, explaining how to approach mental health and remove stigma while also providing simple tools, tips, and ideas for managing wellbeing at work (for yourself and others). It’s also a fantastic supporting tool for organisations looking to achieve compliance with the new ISO 45003 standard.
Happy staff equals healthier, more productive, and more successful staff. Put simply, good mental health is a win-win for every employee and their organisation!
Why is Mental Health Awareness training important?
Business benefits
Under the HASAWA 1974, employers must “so far as is reasonably practicable” protect the health and safety of employees by removing or reducing workplace risks.
There’s more to Mental Health Awareness training than just improving staff wellbeing. Research shows that by investing £1 into staff wellbeing, business owners can expect to see returns of £5 on average. Put simply, happier staff equal more productive staff.
Working towards ISO 45003 compliance?
Section 6 of the ISO 45003 guidance document is all about planning actions to address risks and opportunities. The guidance suggests that one of the key ways to address psychological risks in the workplace is by “increasing resources that assist workers to deal with psychosocial risks by raising awareness and understanding through effective training”.
